Comment le répertoire dit classique se fait-il l’écho de notre actualité géopolitique ? Sarah Laulan et Élodie Vignon ont éprouvé le besoin de rassembler des voix singulières au travers d’œuvres rares, trop mal connues, dont l’engagement témoigne d’une vision humaniste et existentielle. La rareté de la voix de contralto et l’énergie rythmique du piano contribuent à donner à cet album le caractère archaïque d’un cri visant à abolir formes et restrictions. Une invitation à redessiner nos cartographies à l’encre rouge de la danse et des pulsations.

EN | What better way to cross borders and prejudices than to follow in the footsteps of a nomadic and polymorphous music? How does the so-called classical repertoire echo our current geopolitical situation? Sarah Laulan and Élodie Vignon felt the need to bring together singular voices through rare works, too little known, whose commitment bears witness to a humanist and existential vision. FR | Suite au succès de leur CD Still Schubert, le Quatuor Alfama, dans sa nouvelle configuration, enregistre un nouvel album chez Cypres consacré au romantisme exacerbé présent dans la musique de Mendelssohn et Schumann.

so Far so Close, cette clameur, ce cri qui déchire l’espace sonore. Far Fanny and Close Clara ou inversement. Deux prénoms de femmes indissociables des noms de Mendelssohn et de Schumann, ici réunis dans leurs teintes mélancoliques et l’exubérance romantique telle une longue lettre d’amour soulignant la peine dans l’éloignement. Le Quatuor commandé à Patrick Leterme , solaire, aérien et choral, fusionne les tessitures des quatre membres de cette formation mystérieuse et subtile qu’est le quatuor à cordes.

Le Quatuor Alfama souligne par ce programme l’intensité des liens relationnels, exposant par là sa propre part d’intimité.

EN | After the success of their CD Still Schubert, the Alfama Quartet, in its new configuration, records a new album devoted to the exacerbated romanticism in the music of Mendelssohn and Schumann.

So Far so Close, this shout, this cry that ruptures sound-space. Far Fanny and Close Clara or the contrary. Two female names inseparable from the names of Mendelssohn and Schumann, united here in their melancholy hues and romantic exuberance like a long love letter highlighting the sorrow of separation. Patrick Leterme’s Quartet, solar, ethereal and choral, fuses the tessituras of the four members of the mysterious and subtle formation that is the string quartet.

The programme of the Quatuor Alfama brings out the diversity of the relational ties, thereby revealing its own share of intimacy.

FR | Cet enregistrement clôture notre saison anniversaire des 30 ans du label Cypres. Comme un clin d’œil à Confidentes, première publication de cette collection qui mettait en avant un duo de sœurs talentueuses – Marie et Sophie Hallynck – ayant une longue histoire avec notre label, il est également question de sororité ici avec Tatiana et Anna Sam(o)uil qui concrétisent leur rêve d’enregistrer ensemble. Elles nous convient à leur monde enchanté, Il Mondo Felice, au travers de ce programme qui réunit la voix, le violon et un orchestre de chambre autour de l’artiste exceptionnelle qu’est Maria Malibran.

Une volonté de transmettre en musique l’histoire du couple glamour que constituaient Maria Malibran et Charles de Bériot, son intensité et l’exceptionnelle qualité de leur art. Le répertoire moins connu que Maria Malibran a chanté comme les maîtres des siècles passés tels Jean-Sébastien Bach ou Henry Purcell côtoie l’opéra italien qui est représenté sur ce disque par les Ave Maria de Mascagni et Verdi qui, bien que plus tardifs, ont été choisis pour leur hommage à Marie, en l’honneur de qui la chanteuse a été baptisée. Mendelssohn a lui composé son air de concert Infelice pour les amants musiciens. Elles concluent ce disque avec Morgen de Strauss.

EN | This recording brings to its conclusion the 30th anniversary season of the Cypres label. In an allusion to Confidentes, the first release in this collection, featuring a duet of talented sisters – Marie and Sophie Hallynck – who have had a long history with our label, there is also a sisterly reference here with Tatiana and Anna Sam(o)uil who realise their dream of recording together. They invite us into their world of enchantment, Il Mondo Felice, with a programme that brings together voice, violin and chamber orchestra around the exceptional artiste Maria Malibran.

A desire to transmit in music the history of the glamorous couple Maria Malibran and Charles de Bériot, its intensity and the exceptional quality of their art. The lesser-known repertoire that Maria Malibran sang, such as the masters of past centuries like Johann Sebastian Bach or Henry Purcell, is performed alongside Italian opera, which is represented on this recording by the Ave Maria from Mascagni and Verdi, which, although later, were chosen for their homage to Marie, in whose honour the singer was baptised. Mendelssohn composed his concert aria Infelice for the musical lovers. They conclude this CD with Morgen by Strauss.
